Central London Dining News: August 2026
August opens with a run of arrivals across W1. The team behind Milk Beach are adding another sushi counter to Soho, Sherwood Street is getting a cafe built entirely around tiramisu, and the old Robuchon site on Clarges Street returns as a live-fire steakhouse. Here is what is new in the neighbourhood this month.

Saltwater brings handrolls to Berwick Street
Saltwater, a sushi and handroll counter from the Milk Beach team, opens at 3-4 Berwick Street in Soho on 13 August. The room seats around 50 and leans on a takeaway-friendly menu of handrolls, nigiri and donburi bowls, with dishes such as salmon with avocado and yuzu mayo and bluefin tuna with shiso and yuzu kosho.
The menu was developed by Shaulan Steenson, previously of Endo at Rotunda, with Tom Cajone as executive chef. Full details are on Hot Dinners.
Marrone opens a tiramisu cafe in Soho
Marrone, billed as London's first cafe dedicated to tiramisu, is due to open in August at 15 Sherwood Street, in the former Old Spike Roastery near Piccadilly Circus. Founder Giancarlo Fanigliulo is starting with three versions: an original with Estate Dairy cream and dark-roast espresso, a DOP pistachio made with Bronte pistachios, and a dark chocolate and Maldon sea salt take using Valrhona chocolate.
Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic servings are on the list. More on the opening is at Time Out.
Cordelia's Mayfair fires up on Clarges Street
Cordelia's Mayfair, a live-fire steakhouse, opens on 26 August at 6 Clarges Street, the former L'Atelier Robuchon site. The 80-cover room is built around a theatre kitchen and charcoal grill, with British beef dry-aged in-house alongside international cuts, and a cocktail list that leans on tequila and agave spirits.
Head chef Jordi Sebastianelli comes from Le Petit Beefbar in Chelsea, and a resident DJ programme carries the space into the evening. Details are on Hot Dinners.
