The best Mexican restaurants W1 has right now cover every budget. Kol, on Seymour Street, holds a Michelin star for Mexican cooking built on British ingredients. Cavita, on Wigmore Street, is the big, lively Marylebone dining room. El Pastor on Brewer Street does tacos and mezcal in the heart of Soho, and Madera serves Mexican food a few steps from Oxford Circus. Here is what each does best, with hours checked in October 2026.

1. Kol, Seymour Street, Marylebone

9 Seymour Street, W1H 7BA. Kol is the most ambitious Mexican restaurant in London. Chef Santiago Lastra's idea, summed up in the restaurant's own line "Mexican soul, British ingredients", is to cook Mexican food with British produce in place of imported ingredients, so the menu follows the British seasons rather than a fixed list of classics. It holds one Michelin star in the 2026 guide.

Dinner is a tasting menu. Restaurant press reported the price at £145 in early 2026, after a longer £185 menu in 2025; supplements, drinks pairings and service are extra, so confirm the current figure on the booking page. Book well ahead for weekends. It is a few minutes' walk from Marble Arch station.

2. Cavita, Wigmore Street, Marylebone

60 Wigmore Street, W1U 2RZ. Cavita is Adriana Cavita's restaurant, and the one to choose when you want Mexican food with a sense of occasion but not a tasting menu. The space runs from a counter and main dining room to a terrace, with a separate agave bar for mezcal and tequila. The cooking moves from street-food dishes and seafood to larger sharing plates built around slow-cooked moles.

Opening hours are Tuesday to Friday 12pm to 3pm and 5pm to 10.30pm; Saturday 11.30am to 3pm and 5pm to 10.30pm; Sunday 11.30am to 3pm and 5pm to 9.30pm. It is closed on Mondays. Book through OpenTable or by phone on 020 3928 1000; the restaurant asks diners to choose an earlier slot where possible, as the last booking is at 10.30pm. It is close to Bond Street station and the shops of Marylebone; our Marylebone guide covers the rest of the area.

3. El Pastor, Brewer Street, Soho

66 to 70 Brewer Street, W1F 9UP. El Pastor is a small London taqueria group with its own tortilleria, and the tacos are the point: the al pastor, marinated pork cut from a spit, is the one to order first. The Soho branch adds shared plates, a long list of mezcal and spicy margaritas, and a quick lunch deal for weekday visits.

It opens from 12pm to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 12pm to 8pm on Sunday, with a late licence from Thursday to Saturday. It takes walk-ins as well as bookings, seats groups of up to 16, and has a private room for 12. For more good-value meals nearby, see our cheap eats in Soho and Chinatown.

4. Madera at Treehouse, Langham Place

14 to 15 Langham Place, W1B. Madera is the restaurant at the Treehouse hotel, at the top of Regent Street by Oxford Circus, and part of the Toca Madera brand. Its menu is modern Mexican, mixing classic dishes with organic produce and grilled meat and fish. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and a weekend brunch, so it is one of the few Mexican options in W1 that works for a morning meeting. The hotel's rooftop bar, The Nest, has views across the West End for a drink before or after.

It is a short walk from Oxford Circus station, which makes it a practical stop on a shopping day; our Oxford Street shopping guide covers what is nearby.
