Central London restaurant news: 15 August 2026
A quieter week for actual openings, but a loud one for who owns what. The team behind Fallow has bought one of the South Bank's best-known dining rooms, a Monte Carlo steakhouse has landed a Soho flagship with a date attached, and Big Mamma has confirmed its seventh London site. Here is what changed.

The Fallow team buys the OXO Tower Restaurant
Fallow's owners James Robson, Jack Croft and Will Murray have acquired the business and assets operating the OXO Tower Restaurant on the South Bank. Harvey Nichols launched the restaurant, bar and brasserie in 1996 and had held it ever since; the sale was reported on 13 August, alongside news of the department store itself changing hands.
There is no rebrand planned. The group says it wants to keep the current team in place and "patiently tweak" the operation from 2027 onwards rather than arrive with a new identity, which for a room of that size and profile is the more interesting decision.

Beefbar takes the Dear Jackie space at Broadwick Soho
Beefbar has confirmed its UK flagship will open at Broadwick Soho on 10 September, taking over the ground-floor bar and lower-ground restaurant that housed Dear Jackie and Bar Jackie. The announcement came on 10 August. It follows the closure of Le Petit Beefbar in Chelsea in April.
The menu leans on Japanese Kobe and Australian wagyu, with London-only dishes including a wagyu shepherd's pie and a truffled cordon bleu, plus a redesigned terrace for day-to-night service.

Big Mamma brings Edmondo to Bank
Big Mamma Group is opening its seventh London restaurant, Edmondo, in Bank this autumn, with a job listing pointing to October. It follows Barbarella in Canary Wharf, which opened in June 2025, and gives the group a second site in the City fringe.
An Edmondo already trades in Hamburg, though the group has not said how closely the London room will follow it. The news was reported on 14 August.
